December 22, 2012 - Jeffrey Cohen of Jivamukti Yoga Charleston had been talking about the end of the Mayan calendar for nearly five years, so it came as no surprise that he held a “one-of-a-kind” yoga event to celebrate. The party, called Shift Happens, was held Friday and included a “live music yoga tribal dance party” featuring black lights and Mayan beats that charged the atmosphere and shook the ground like an earthquake. Participants were urged to wear fluorescent, neon or white clothing; many in attendance took advantage of the fluorescent body painting that was offered. The event also included an aerial yoga performance, drum circle, chanting and vegan food provided by The Sprout, Puree, Dell’z Deli and Unbaked.
