The 22nd annual Chocolate Affair was an evening of decadence as gourmet catering and chocolate desserts from some of Charleston’s finest restaurants and specialty shops were the focus of the night. Attendees noshed on a variety of hors d’oeuvres and enjoyed the open bar as they checked out the more than 200 offerings in the auction and the goodies from the contestants in the third annual chocolate competition. The competition included dozens of bakeries and restaurants battling it out for the title of “Most Artistic” or “Most Delectable” from this year’s judges: Nathalie Dupree, Fritz Knipschildt, Maggie White and Bernd Gronert. The gala and auction Saturday in the Crystal Ballroom at the Charleston Marriott supported Communities in Schools of the Charleston Area, which was established to address the dropout crisis.
