SEE AND BE SCENE: Spectators cheering on the contestants during the crawfish eating contest at the 22nd Annual Lowcountry Cajun Festival held at James Island County Park, 4/7.

At Sunday’s Lowcountry Cajun Festival, Louisiana living meets Charleston charm. The 22nd annual event served up jambalaya, alligator, etouffe, andouille sausage and, of course, crawfish to hungry patrons. For those who were less adventurous, food offerings also included Lowcountry favorites like seafood and barbecue, and festival foods like hot dogs, snow cones, funnel cakes and more. In addition to getting their fill, attendees also enjoyed a full day of Zydeco music from the likes of “Swamp Pop Princess” Shelly Waters, Unknown Tongues and Sidewalk Zydeco. The family-friendly event also offered a crafts market, mechanical rides, inflatables, games for kids and the famous crawfish eating contest.
