The third annual Gimme Shelter event benefitting Operation Home held Thursday at The Alley was a retro-themed success. Attendees, who were urged to dress in creative retro attire, enjoyed a night of bowling, skee ball and arcade games as they listened to tunes spun by a DJ. They sipped on drinks and dined on comfort foods and American classics that were prepared by Home Team BBQ executive chef Aaron Siegel. Money was raised through live and silent auctions and a raffle for a Scout boat. Operation Home aims to help people remain in their homes by increasing safety and accessibility through the coordination of home repairs for low-income residents of Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties. With the funds raised with the party, the organization will build wheelchair ramps and repair roofs, windows and floors for at least 60 homes this year.
