July 13, 2013 For the third year running, Girls Rock Charleston closed out its one-week summer camp with a showcase at the Music Farm. Held Saturday, 11 new bands performed an original song in front of screaming fans. The organization, which aims to empower girls and transgender youth through music education, DIY media and creative collaboration, taught participants a number of skills during their week at camp, including DJing, self-defense, the history of music, stage presence and instrument instruction, much of which was on display during the showcase.
