September 02, 2013 Serving as a benefit for the Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic, the seventh annual Wine and Beer Festival offered attendees what the name promised. With the beer and wine flowing, the casual event also included live entertainment by Ann Caldwell, a silent auction and a spread from Hege’s Lowcountry Buffet. The nonprofit provides medical care to uninsured adults living at or below the poverty level on Johns, Wadmalaw and James islands, and money raised at Sunday’s event at Freshfields Village will help them continue their services.
