September 15, 2013 A cadre of ukulele fans got together on Saturday for the fourth annual Blackwater Ukulele Festival. Held at Cypress Gardens, attendees of the volunteer-based festival had the chance to take in the garden grounds and exhibits as they enjoyed a full day of musical fun. With a ukulele workshop taught by local legend Donald “Noodle McDoodle” Whitley, a hula exhibition and workshop, concerts by the Charleston Hot Shots and the V-Tones, boat ride jams and a ukulele open mic, the free event drew fans of the instrument and recruited a few new ones in the process. Local vendors offering crafts, food and instruments were also set up on-site to round out the event.
