September 30, 2013 The 33rd Southern Living Taste of Charleston wrapped up its third day of events on Sunday with the Main Event at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant. The kick-off event on Friday night on Shem Creek was called Sweet & Southern and featured live music from Gigi Dover & The Big Love, Lowcountry cuisine served up by local caterers such as Duvall Catering and Cast Iron Catering, and moonlit harbor cruises. Saturday’s event was an Iron Chef Competition that saw a men vs. women battle to create three to five dishes featuring the “secret ingredient” which was unveiled at the beginning of the competition. Sunday’s Main Event featured 50 of the Lowcountry’s favorite casual and fine dining restaurants serving food, beer and wine samples. In addition to food from the likes of 82 Queen, Mosaic Cafe, Poogan’s Porch, Hall’s Chophouse, Ms. Rose’s and Burwell’s Stone Fire Grill, among numerous others, the Main Event also included the famous Waiters’ Race and a special kid’s area that was complete with acrobatics, juggling, dancing, crafts, jump castles and more.
