October 13, 2013 The fourth annual Mac-Off, presented by The Post and Courier, returned on Saturday for another round of cheesy fun and tough competition at The Grove at Patriots Point. With Crave and Graze returning to defend their titles, attendees were able to delve into mac and cheese offerings from the likes of Poogan’s Porch, Rue de Jean, The Green Goat, Mosaic, The Roost and more, all of whom were battling it out for one of three titles: Critics Choice, People’s Choice and Best Local Ingredient(s) Critics Choice. While macaroni and cheese was at the center of the event, additional food offerings such as Lowcountry favorites and funnel cakes, French fries and snow cones were also available. And when food is involved, drinks are always necessary, and the folks behind the events didn’t disappoint as Charleston Mix Bloody Mary, Tito’s Vodka, Firefly Moonshine, Larceny Bourbon, Sam Adams, Angry Orchard, Bud Light and wine were all available. In addition to food and drink offerings, fun was in abundance as there was a zip line, corn hole and bocce, a pumpkin patch, kids section, live music, TVs showing football, cooking demonstrations and more. A portion of the proceeds benefitted Lowcountry Local First, a group that advocates community support for local independent businesses and farmers.
