October 26, 2013 After weeks of difficulty trying to nail down a venue, the 13th Skinful Halloween again landed at the Brick House Kitchen on James Island on Saturday. With a noise ordinance having been put in place since last year, the normally late-night event was moved up to start at 2 p.m., with the number of guests limited and the party contained inside a fenced area on the premises. Those in attendance made the best of the changes, enjoying musical performances by Ozomatli, Dirt Nasty, Blowfly, Cee Know the Doodle Bug of The Digable Planets with the CFO band and The Dubplates featuring Zumja before a “silent disco,” in which partygoers wore wireless headphones that broadcasted the music played by the DJs, started at 11 p.m. in accordance with the noise ordinance. The party, hosted by rapper and TV personality Flavor Flav, also included circus acts, burlesque pole dancing, belly dancers, live art, video mapping and a laser light show. The event benefitted the Tanzania Education Foundation and Keepers of the Wild.
