December 02, 2013 After the Charleston Christmas Parade earlier in the day, the festivities moved to Marion Square Sunday evening as the College of Charleston’s Yaschik/Arnold Jewish Studies Program teamed up with the city of Charleston’s Office of Cultural Affairs, Chabad of the Lowcountry and other community organizations to present the ninth annual Chanukah in the Square. Billed as the largest annual Jewish event in the state, the family-friendly event saw Charleston Mayor Joe Riley make welcoming remarks before a local Holocaust survivor continued the tradition of lighting the candles on the menorah. The event continued with food, dancing and fun.
