December 12, 2013 StarChefs.com, an online magazine which stages regional parties to recognize “up-and-coming chefs and culinary professionals,” found a slew of talented chefs in Asheville, N.C., and Charleston and brought that talent to the Memminger Auditorium for an awards show and tasting gala. Attendees of the Rising Stars Gala had the opportunity to experience 26 of North and South Carolinas’ top chefs and restaurants with beverage pairings and cocktails by winning sommeliers and mixologists in one location for one night only. And with locals Travis Grimes of Husk, Josh Keeler of Two Boroughs Larder, Jason Stanhope of FIG, Stuart Tracy of Butcher & Bee, David Schnell of Brown’s Court Bakery, Aaron Siegel of Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ, Brad Ball of Social Restaurant + Wine Bar, Joe Raya of The Gin Joint and Charles Arena, Fish House at Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina participating, Charleston was well represented.
