April 13, 2014 Ford Productions and Awendaw Green put on the inaugural What the Folk Music Festival on Friday and Saturday at Sewee Outpost in Awendaw. Featuring two days of live music, performers included Todd Snider, The Bottle Rockets, Charlie Mars, Pierce Eden & The Dirty Work, Megan Jean & The KFB, Swamp Candy, Doug Jones, Vinegar Creek Constituency and Ryan Bonner, among others. Rounding out the event were food trucks The Big Southern and Lowcountry Creole, as well as vendors offering local microbrews, including Palmetto Brewery. A portion of the proceeds went to Carolina Studios, a nonprofit that provides at risk students a safe environment to foster creative, educational and career-focused initiatives through music technology and media arts.
