June 09, 2014 Following tradition, the Sunday finale event wrapping up the 17-day Spoleto Festival USA was one to remember. The daytime entertainment portion featured side-stage performances by Roger Bellow and The Drifting Troubadour, Megan Jean & the KFB and Rayland Baxter. The headliners that night, Charleston’s own Shovels & Rope, took the main stage to dazzle the crowd with their mash-up of honky tonk twang, folksy lyricism and punk grit, a sound that won them the Americana Music Honors & Award’s Emerging Artist of the Year in 2013. Throughout the event, the Beer Garden was a busy place, serving up local craft beers and gourmet picnic fare. The event closed with an impressive fireworks display.
