August 03, 2014 Launched in Charleston, the Gullah/Geechee Nation International Music & Movement Festival returned to the Holy City for this year’s event. The national festival of the Gullah/Geechee Nation, the celebration has been expanding each year, with this year’s journey begining with the Charleston RiverDogs “Gullah/Geechee Nation Night at The Joe” on Friday. The festival continued Saturday at the Charleston Maritime Center with the Gullah/Geechee Reunion Day. The event feature a number of Gullah/Geechee craft artisans, painter Saundra Renee Smith, the premiere of the documentary “Wilmington on Fire” and performances by a number of native Gullah/Geechee musical groups.
