Arts Scene: Jail Break III, ‘Art on Wheels,’ photo club exhibit and more

File/Leroy Burnell/staff The Old City Jail will be the scene of a ‘Jail Break’ this weekend.

Spring is in full swing, and we’re all as busy as bees. Here’s this week’s packed lineup:

Jail Break III
Music, visual arts, performing arts, vendors, food, beverages — all kinds of awesomeness is happening Saturday at the Old City Jail at Jail Break III.

Creator Andrew Walker of Entropy Arts is excited for this third installment of a festival that highlights all local artists and artisans.

“Artists of every medium are taking over the Old City Jail to transform this space of captivity into the crux of creativity,” Walker said.

The band Slow Runner will be joined by French Camp with Owen Beverly, Old You, The Fireworks Show with Danielle Howle and more.

Photographic artwork submitted by members of the community will fill a room of the jailhouse in this festival that brings arts to the people and people to the arts, Walker said.

Artwork will be on sale by local artists and vendors. Food trucks will be on-site, and alcohol will be available for purchase.

There also will be dance performances by the Charleston Dance Alliance: Annex Dance Company; Julianna Hane of Revolve Aerial Dance; DanceFX Charleston, featuring The Charleston Dance Project; Slow Jamz Hip Hop Crew; The Modern Day Pin-Ups; and more.
