Peaches on menu
The Old Village Post House is hosting a special peach dinner at 6:30 p.m. July 25 with special guest chef jimihatt from Guerrilla Cuisine.
Chef de cuisine Forrest Parker and executive chef Frank Lee have worked with jimihatt to create a culinary tribute to South Carolina peaches. The menu includes four courses that will be paired with wines to bring out the peach flavors.
Reservations are required and can be made by calling 388-8935. The dinner is $65, plus tax and gratuity.

New hours at ’Cesca
’Cesca, Charleston’s new southern regional Italian restaurant, is expanding its hours with the addition of lunch and brunch service. Lunch is available 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
Brunch will be served 9 a.m.-3 p.m. every Sunday.
In addition to the regular lunch menu, ’Cesca is offering an express lunch that includes a choice of soup or salad, tagliatelle Bolognese or whole-wheat penne pomodoro and a drink for $11.50.
Brunch includes a buffet offering as well as a la carte. Brunch specialties include a frittata and waffle station with made-to-order omelets and waffles, and a carving station featuring Italian porketta.

Cooking by the book
Executive chef Kevin Johnson of The Grocery is teaming up with Damien Schaefer, creator of the James Beard nominated dining experience and Cooking Channel television show “The Four Coursemen,” for a special dinner at Heirloom Book Co. on July 17.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m., guests may enjoy a collaborative, seasonal, multicourse meal envisioned and prepared by Johnson and Schaefer.
Grassroots Wine is providing pairings and will be on hand to discuss the vintages. Lowland and Rebellion farms, among other local producers, are supplying ingredients, and guest chefs include Dean Neff, executive chef at Five and Ten; Matt Downes, owner of Luna Baking Corp.; and Ken Manring, chef and owner of White Tiger Gourmet, all of which are in Athens, Ga.
The dinner is $100, including tax, with a portion of sales donated to Slow Food Charleston. Seating is limited.

New menu for Queen
Steven Lusby, 82 Queen’s executive chef, announced a dramatic change in the menu at the restaurant, introducing a two-part summer menu: The “ ‘Queen’s Classics’ menu features traditional Lowcountry dishes, while the ‘Influences’ menu pays homage to the rich, Caribbean flavors deeply rooted in the Lowcountry culinary culture.”

New at Jack’s
Jack’s Cosmic Dogs has teamed up with Sep Harvin of the Williamsburg Packing Co. in Kingstree to produce four new locally made sausages.
New product items will include a bratwurst, all-beef kielbasa, chicken chorizo and a hot Italian. Toppings will be Cosmic favorites such as Jack’s BBQ sauce, Jack’s zippy onion relish and the new mango peppa ketchup.

Calling all kids
Creative Spark will host a “Fairytale Breakfast” on July 21.
Bring the kids for a magical morning full of entertainment, live characters from fairy tale favorites and a gourmet breakfast buffet, including breakfast pizzas, a waffle station and more.
Character appearances include Sleeping Beauty, Prince Charming, Goldilocks, Baby Bear, Pinocchio and the Blue Fairy.
