File/Columbia Pictures-Sony, Tracy Bennett/AP: Ken Jeong (from left), Kevin James and Rosario Dawson are shown in a scene from “Zookeeper.”
Fresh off its PGA madness, Freshfields Village will continue its Starlight Cinemas summer movie series Wednesday with a showing of “Zookeeper.”
Starring funny man Kevin James, the story revolves around a lowly zookeeper who, after a break-up, learns that the animals he cares for can talk after they break their vow of silence in order to help him find love.
The PG film is appropriate for all ages.
Award-winning silhouette artist, songwriter and storyteller Clay Rice will perform his “Lowcountry Legends Show,” which includes tales of the South Carolina Lowcountry.
Rice will perform at 7:30 p.m. on the Village Green before the 8:30 p.m. screening. The event is free; bring a blanket and/or chairs. Freshfields is at the crossroads of Kiawah, Seabrook and Johns islands. Go to www.FreshfieldsVillage.comor www.facebook.com/FreshfieldsVillage.
The 2012 series at Carmike James Island 8, 1743 Central Park Road, comes to a close at 10 a.m. Thursday.
The final film?
“Megamind,” which pits funny man Will Ferrell against the hunky Brad Pitt. And believe it or not, Ferrell comes out on top.
Bear with me. I’ll explain.
After super-villain Megamind (Ferrell) kills his good-guy nemesis, Metro Man (Pitt), he becomes bored. He creates a new foe, Titan (Jonah Hill), to have someone to fight with, but instead of using his powers for good, Titan sets out to destroy the world. This fun flip positions Megamind to save the day for the first time in his life. Tina Fey and Ben Stiller also are part of this all-star voice cast.
Tickets to the movie cost $2 and include a drink and popcorn if you so desire. For more info, call 762-4904.
