It is time again for Chamber Music Charleston’s Mozart in the South Festival, a four-day festival that is all about celebrating classical music.

While numerous events are planned for the fourth annual festival, there is one that stands out: the Little Mozart Circus.
While being free does make it notable, it’s what the outdoor event offers that takes it to the next level.
Expect to see, and hear, numerous performances, as students will be playing alongside their teachers from the likes of Childbloom Guitar, the Stringing Eagles, Leonard School of Music, Charleston Children’s Chorus and more.
There will be 12 individual tents hosted by various music-based and child-friendly organizations, an “instrumental petting zoo” (anyone can try out a violin, cello, flute or trumpet under the guidance of Chamber Music Charleston professional musicians), the “Suzuki Play In” and the “Cello Posse Play In” (where students of all ages can bring their instrument and play along) and more.
“Essentially, it is a one-stop-shop to learn about anything to do with music education in the Charleston area,” said Sandra Nikolajevs, president and artistic director of Chamber Music Charleston.
The Little Mozart Circus will be 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday in Marion Square.

Chucktown After 5
Who doesn’t love happy hour?
The latest in happy hour fun is the new concert series Chucktown After 5, which offers attendees the chance to unwind by the water and enjoy “the best beer, wine and cocktail specials in town.”
A food truck also will be on-site.
This week, the second in a six-week run, enjoy a performance by Soulfish, billed as “Charleston’s best cover band.”
Put on by Ear for Music, the same team that has produced Party at the Point on Patriots Point for 11 years, the event will run 5-9 p.m. at Fountain Walk Plaza (by the Hippodrome).
Tickets are $5 for two people and are available at the gate the night of the show.

‘The Birds’
It may not seem like it, but Halloween is just around the corner.
Are you ready?
I didn’t think so.
But not to worry, as the master of mystery and psychological thrillers can help you get in the right frame of mind.
Coming back to the big screen is Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds,” a movie that has made many duck in fear as a swarm of birds flies overhead (I can’t be the only one!).
Newly restored in celebration of Universal’s 100th Anniversary, the film’s 7 p.m. Sept. 19 showing also includes an interview with star Tippi Hedren. In the exclusive interview conducted specifically for this special presentation, Hedren reveals how “Hitch” hand-picked her to play the part of Melanie Daniels and how the movie that launched her career also ended it.
“The Birds” will be shown at Azalea Square Stadium 16, 215 Azalea Square Blvd. in Summerville, and at Charlestowne Square 18, 2401 Mall Drive in North Charleston. Tickets are $12.50.
