Held at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, this fifth annual culinary extravaganza brings together renowned chefs and winemakers to raise money for cancer research. The event will feature a black-tie dinner by executive chef Justin Bogle of Gilt in New York, an interactive culinary luncheon, wine seminars, the Wine Odyssey Gala and a farewell brunch. The weekend benefits Hollings Cancer Center at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Chocolate Affair

This 22nd annual gala features gourmet catering and chocolate desserts from some of Charleston’s finest restaurants and specialty shops. With an open bar, a variety of hors d’oeuvres and the third annual chocolate competition, this is one event that’s all about enjoying the food. The competition will include dozens of bakeries and restaurants battling it out for the title of “Most Artistic” or “Most Delectable” from this year’s judges: Nathalie Dupree, Fritz Knipschildt, Maggie White and Bernd Gronert. The event also will feature an auction with more than 200 items. The gala and auction supports Communities in Schools of the Charleston Area, which was established to address the dropout crisis.

Chart a Course for Children

The Dee Norton Lowcountry Children’s Center will hold its 12th annual dinner auction to raise funds to support the delivery of critical services for abused children and their families seen at the nonprofit center. The event will feature a specially prepared three-course dinner and a live and silent auction with items that include vacations to Mexico, exclusive dining opportunities with local chefs and a dove hunting trip to Argentina. Seating is limited.

Winter Bar Car Olympics: Crawling for a Cause

This 21-and-over event spells it out in its name: “Crawling for a Cause.” Participants who register to compete as Olympians will be competing to raise money for a local charity of their choosing by visiting seven local restaurants and bars throughout downtown Charleston and competing in seven games. The winning team will receive gold medals and the charity will receive $5 from every ticket sold to the event. There also will be a 50/50 ticket raffle, with half of the proceeds also going to the winning team’s charity. Teams must have eight Olympians to compete. Bonus points will be awarded for best team name, best team costume and other side events throughout the day.

When: 3-9 p.m. Saturday; pickup begins around 2 p.m.
