After rumors began circulating Wednesday about MTV’s “The Real World” possibly filming in Charleston, a petition was soon posted on Change.org to stop it.
While the person who submitted the petition, Colin Raden, said it had been confirmed that filming would take place along The Battery, MTV told The Post and Courier on Wednesday that “it’s not something that we’re prepared to confirm.”
“I can’t confirm the location. That’s all I can say,” said Rayna Schwartz, an MTV spokesperson.
Dawn Dawson-House, director of public relations for the S.C. Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism, of which the S.C. Film Commission is a part of, also could not confirm the rumors on Wednesday.
“We did look in to it, and we don’t have any information on it whatsoever,” she said.
The petition, which had 144 supports at 11:20 a.m., aims to “show MTV that there simply is not enough room for them to film their reality show here.”
