Twitter was abuzz yet again on Friday about a reality show filming in Charleston, this time it was TLC’s “Welcome to Myrtle Manor.”
Based in a mobile home park in Myrtle Beach, the cast was set to begin filming at Mad River Bar & Grille, 32 North Market St., at 3:30 p.m. Friday, according to a tweet from Mad River. The filming is taking place the same day the bar has their 3rd annual Luau Party scheduled.
The news of the filming came days after reports that MTV’s “The Real World” was considering Charleston as the location for an upcoming season, though the rumors couldn’t be confirmed by an MTV spokesperson or the S.C. Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism, of which the S.C. Film Commission is a part of.
“Welcome to Myrtle Manor,” which is filming its second season, follows landlord Becky as she aims to turn Myrtle Manor “into the five-star trailer park she has always dreamed of, with amenities like an on-site hair salon and a new above ground swimming pool.”
