Rugby World Cup Qualifier
The game of rugby is credited to a day in 1823 in England when a boy named William Webb Ellis disregarded the rules of football and ran with the ball in his hands. The sport has seen an ebb and flow popularity over the years, having been dropped from the Olympic program in the '20s, but it's on the uptick, having recently been picked up again for the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro. Proving its popularity, the International Rugby World Cup 2015 Qualifier will be held on Daniel Island. The USA Eagles will take on the Canada Maple Leafs, and fans are asked to support the Eagles by wearing blue.

Did you know that Aug. 17 is National Thrift Shop Day? Celebrate by changing out your wardrobe at a price that can't be beat. Re-Trend, a “nomadic clothing swap run by a couple of local fashionistas,” aims to help you out by hosting a Swap this weekend that will feature women's and men's clothing and accessories. How it works is that attendees are asked to bring a maximum of 10 clean, gently used items, and for every item you bring, you can swap it for a new item to take home. Additional items can be purchased for $3 apiece. The Charleston Animal Society will be on hand collecting household cleaners, towels, blankets and office supplies. For every item you bring that they need, you'll get an extra swap pick. The Lucky Puppy Truck will be on-site with homemade treats, homemade puppy “ice cream,” grooming supplies and toys for sale, with a portion of purchases going to CAS. Drink specials and snacks will be available for purchase.
