Ahead of Restless Road’s Wednesday night performance of the Coldplay hit “Fix You” on “The X Factor,” Simon Cowell stated, “This is a big song. This could go right or it could go horribly, horribly wrong.”
Despite some not-so-great feedback from the three female judges - Kelly Rowland from Destiny’s Child, former Disney star Demi Lovato and Latin pop star Paulina Rubio - the gamble paid off and Restless Road moved into the Top 8.
The male country trio made up of 19-year-old Andrew Scholz, a 2013 graduate of Summerville High School, Colton Peck of Danese, W.Va., and Zach Beeken of Indiana, Pa., both 18, appeared relieved, having just escaped the elimination showdown.
The Summerville resident and his bandmates will return for next week’s performance on Wednesday with the results revealed on Thursdays.
