Johnny Mathis

Breaking onto the music scene in 1957 with an appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show," legendary singer Johnny Mathis will make a local appearance along with special guest Gary Mule Deer. Mathis, best known for the song "Misty," "Chances Are" and "It's Not for Me to Say," is highly decorated, having sold more than 350 million records worldwide. Known for starting the tradition of releasing "Greatest Hits" albums, Mathis has been a recording artist for more than 55 years, has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame twice and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Taste of Folly



A section of Folly Beach's Center Street will be shut down Saturday to vehicular traffic to allow local restaurants and bars to take over for the annual Taste of Folly. With more than 20 restaurants and bar participating, everyone in the family should be satisfied by the offerings. There will also be a chili cook-off, a hot dog-eating contest, the Bartenders Mix-Off Winner's Circle and the Server Olympics. In addition to all the food and drink fun, attendees will be able to enjoy live music by One Kool Blow and the Jordan Igoe Band, bid in the silent auction and date auction, and take advantage of kid-centric entertainment including bounce castles. On Friday night from 7-11 p.m., a special cocktail contest will be held at the Tides Hotel featuring area bartenders creating a signature cocktail featuring Blackheart Spiced Rum. Attendees ($20) will be able to taste the creations and listen to live music from Les Racquet and The Louie D Project. The Taste of Folly benefits Folly Beach Parks and Recreation.

Winterfest Apres Ski & Snow Party



The Winterfest Apres Ski & Snow Party will be all about having a good time and enjoying something that the Charleston area doesn't see too often: snow. This 21-and-over event will see The Lookout Pavilion transformed into a ski lodge, complete with 25 tons of snow. Attendees are encouraged to dress in their winter best to enjoy music from DJ C.Nile and DJ Natty Heavy, specialty cocktails and drink specials, ice luges and an ice bar, giveaways, a lounge and dance area and more.

When: 8 p.m.-midnight Friday

Charleston Boat Show



Billed as "the biggest boat show and sale in the Lowcountry," the Charleston Boat Show returns to the Charleston Area Convention Center for its 34th year. With hundreds of boats from the area's top retailers on display, the show will feature a wide variety of boats, including sport cruisers, motor and express yachts, sport fishing boats, center console fishing boats, bass boats, bow riders, deck and aluminum boats, ski and pontoon boats, runabouts, bay boats, shallow water flat skiffs and family cruisers. There also will be family-friendly fun, education opportunities, the Coastal Fishing Expo and entertainment such as the Plundering Pirates of Paradise.

Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach auction



Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach will host its 17th annual auction in an effort to raise funds to increase education services to Sea Island and downtown Charleston residents. The event will feature a silent auction during a cocktail hour with light hors d'oeuvre and wine followed by a live auction and formal Sunday dinner. Proceeds from the event will support the services offered by the organization to reduce poverty, prevent homelessness and increase educational outreach services.

Bo's Roast and Chili Cook Off



Presented by the James Island Vikings and sponsored by Smoky Oak Taproom and Rising High Cafe, this oyster roast and chili cook-off will benefit Camp Happy Days and the Wounded Warriors Project. Individuals, teams and local restaurants will be offering up their best chili in a competition for the "People's Choice" and two other awards. Oysters and beverages will be available for purchase, with VIP ticketholders receiving all-you-can-drink and -eat oysters.

Charleston Trees' Oyster Roast



Charleston Trees, a committee of the Charleston Horticultural Society, will hold its annual oyster roast at the historic Lowndes Grove Plantation. The event will include oysters, chili with all the fixings, beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages and live entertainment. The roast will take place rain or shine and tickets must be purchased in advance.

Localist Oyster Roast



Lowcountry Local First is inviting members and nonmembers to an oyster roast to celebrate being a "Localist." Hosted at the Charleston Crab House, the event will include all-you-can-eat oysters, chili with the fixings, live music and more.
