Charleston Carifest

The multiday Charleston Carifest event is a celebration of all things Caribbean. A celebration in honor of Caribbean American Heritage Month, the festival features four days of food, fun, music, and costumes mixed with education and culture. Highlights of the festival include the Masquerade Fete and Carnival Day. The Masquerade Fete on Friday ($50 per person, $80 per couple) will see attendees in semi-formal or masquerade attire sip on the drinks of Puerto Rico, feast on Caribbean delicacies, and dance to the sounds of Soca, salsa, reggae and R&B. Carnival Day on Saturday will feature three events: The Street Parade, Festival in the Park and White Party. The parade will start at 3 p.m. and travel from John Street to Brittlebank Park, which will play host to the Festival in the Park ($10-$12). From 2-8 p.m., the event will include live performers, dancers, International Reggae and Soca artists, Caribbean food, colorful costumes, games and more. The All White Party starts at 10 p.m. right after the celebration in the park; proceeds will go to the Children's Steel Band Project.
