Lowcountry Blueberry Jam & Blueberry Festival
Blue Pearl Farms on the edge of the Francis Marion National Forest will host its fourth annual Lowcountry Blueberry Jam & Blueberry Festival this weekend. Visitors to the organic blueberry farm will be able to sit by Cypress Pond and listen to live music from Smoky Weiner and the Hot Links, Donald Merckle and the Blacksmiths, and The Jefferson Coker Band. Throughout the afternoon, there will be demonstrations by artisans, beekeepers and blueberry keepers, and a special session with members of the Sea Turtle Team who work with Cape Romain National Wildlife Preserve. The Friends of Coastal South Carolina, formerly known as the Sewee Association, will have a "touch tent" set up with hands-on activities. The festival also will feature food and beverages, local growers and producers, artists and artisans, the much-loved Blueberry Toss competition, activities for kids and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs but are asked to leave pets at home.
