Charleston Pride Festival
After making the move last year to downtown Charleston from North Charleston, organizers of the Charleston Pride Festival promised a bigger and better event, and they certainly delivered. That same vow has rolled over into this year's plans, too, with nine days of events on the books. The festival, which started Aug. 2, continues today with a Takeover Charleston event at DIG in the Park, followed by The Patti O'Furniture Show at Dudley's on Ann. A meet-and-greet event will be at the Holiday Inn Charleston Historic Downtown on Friday, with an after-party at Pantheon. Saturday is the culmination of the Charleston Pride Festival, with the 9 a.m. parade running through the streets of downtown Charleston (optimal viewing is on King Street) and the 11 a.m.-3 p.m. rally at Brittlebank Park, complete with live music and entertainment for all ages; an after-party will end the night at Mad River. The festival will wrap up Sunday with a Drag Brunch at Tabbuli.
