Edisto Beach Music and Shag Fest
It should come as no surprise that there are a number of events and clubs dedicated to the shag, as it is South Carolina's state dance. This weekend, the Dockside Bar and Grill, the town of Edisto Beach and the Edisto Chamber of Commerce are celebrating shag by sponsoring the Edisto Beach Music & Shag Fest. Featuring two days of arts and craft vendors, food vendors, shag exhibitions, live music and more, shag fans of all ages are sure to find something to enjoy. Friday will feature music to dance from DJ Jim Bowers, the Shem Creek Boogie Band and The Embers featuring Craig Woolard. Bowers will again spin on Saturday, joined by Steve Craig and The Out of Towners Band and the East Coast Party Band, with a shag competition for everyone set for 9 p.m.
When: Friday-Saturday; the park will open at noon Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday
Where: Bay Creek Park (located next to the Edisto Marina) on Edisto Beach
Price: Free for those under age 13
