Shrimp and Grits Charleston
Fifteen chefs representing local restaurants will be facing off in the inaugural Shrimp and Grits Charleston cook-off competition. A traditional Lowcountry dish, shrimp and grits can be prepared a variety of ways, and these chefs have been given free reign, according to organizer Georgia Schrubbe. In addition to tasting the creations from the likes of Poogan's Porch, Stars, Hall's Chophouse and Toast, to name a few, attendees will be able to enjoy live music, a cookbook signing and cocktails from the Striped Pig Distillery and Charleston Distilling Co.; beer and wine will also be available. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Charleston Animal Society.
